Team 2: The Trouble With Tommy
A fourth grade student named Tommy has been having difficulty with attention in the classroom. Due to his inability to regulate emotion or focus on the lesson, he is a distraction to his peers. The classroom Teacher is overwhelmed and has identified Tommy as being "at-risk" and in need of more support.
Mrs. Morris, worried about her sons behaviour, has researched ADD and ADHD and has approached the academic support team regarding to opinion to explore medications such as Adderal and Ritalin as an option for him
The school Nurses, Social Worker and the Child and Youth counselor were notified. The four professionals have a difference of opinion regarding appropriate supportive intervention.
